League Rules:
1 Home teams are listed first.
2 Each team supplies one new “blue dot” softball per game. Victor gets the balls.
3 Teams should arrive by 6:30 pm and the game begins at 7:00 pm. Forfeits will be called
at 7:15 if a team cannot field at least 7 players.
4 7 innings per game.
5 Rainouts or postponements to be played later in the same week or as arranged by the
team coaches. Goodrich field is available throughout the week.
6 This is a hitting league. Walks are being discouraged. It will take 5 balls for a walk and
3 strikes for a strikeout.
7 Each team must have at least 2 women players in the batting line-up as well as in the field. If not, then one out for each missing woman batter must be recorded in the 5th and/or 10th batters positions. For every woman less than 2 in the field, that team must play down that many players. (ie: If a team has only one woman player, then they can only field 9 players in the field)
8. Teams will bat their entire roster present, although only 2 females are required to bat per roster and in the first 10 batters. (not every 10 batters)
9 Home teams bring bases and lead prayer before game. Visitor’s lead prayer at games end.
10 1st baseman’s foot only has to be near or adjacent to the bag to prevent tripping of runner.
If an extra base is available, one base can be used for the runner and one for the baseman.
11 Sliding is allowed but you can’t run into the catcher. The plate and mat are safe for home.
The catcher should stand on the infield side of home plate for a play at the plate.
12 Pitches must be arced over the batter’s head and no higher than 12 feet.
13 Bats must be softball bats. Metal bats must be labeled for softball. If a bat is determined to be in doubt as to its acceptability, then both teams will have access to the bat for use.
14 Pinch runners may be used but they must be whoever made the last out.
15 Umpires will call runners safe if they deem that the fielder is blocking any base or plate.
16 There will be a maximum of 10 runs scored by any team per inning except for the 7th inning.
17 Team batting will provide home plate umpire and base coaches will umpire other bases.
18 There is no leading off. Any runner leaving the base without the ball being struck or
fouled off, will be called out.
19 The official size of the carpet mat is 17” x 36” with the home plate located on top of the
carpet. At Victory field you will need to cut out for the plate since it is fixed.
20. Each field shall be marked with a line in the outfield at 150’ from home plate. All outfielders
shall stand behind the 150’ line before the ball is struck when a woman is up to bat.
Since both Goodrich and Victory are playing in the league this year, we will make a donation to each church of $150 dollars for the season to cover maintenance. Therefore, each team will pay $30 dollars to the league (get dollars to Jeff Bennett before the start of the season) and the league will pay VictoryChurch and Goodrich UMC up front.
